Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum
This box car was built by Pullman-Standard Company in the 1950's as one of the 77000-series cars. It carried goods all over New England on the Boston and Maine Railroad. In the 1980's it was sold by the railroad to the Agway store that was in Shelburne Falls. It was donated to us when we bought the yard from Norm Sessions.
By 2013 most of the paint had peeled off
and you could see the B&M logo coming through the art work.
In 2013 it was painted with polka-dots by Caleb Neelon.
In 2018 it was painted in a different fanciful scheme by Caleb Neelon again.
In 2022 we had it media-blasted to remove the paint and rust and prepare it for priming and painting.
Here you can see remnants of the old logo.
This is all we could find of the original numbering on the car.
Looks like 776??
Then we had it painted to the Boston and Maine scheme of blue body and ends and roof, with black underframe and doors.
We are working on getting the B&M logo and numbering painted onto the car. Does anyone have a picture showing what number this car was?
We use this car to store our track repair equipment and materials.
This car is not open to the public.
We are raising money to paint it in the B&M blue scheme it would have had when it was new.
